Young Voices StaffHillary Heisman-UpdikePreparatory Choir DirectorHilary Heisman-Updike grew up in northwest Ohio, where she performed in numerous stage and musical theatre productions from elementary through high school. After graduating from Toledo Christian School in 2002, she attended Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois, where she spent four years touring with the college’s concert choir. During her undergraduate work, Hilary had unique experiences with both the classical and contemporary aspects of the professional music world. She sang for Soprano Shirley Close in a select master class, and prepared a traditional recital. She also served as part of the executive cabinet for the Agape Music Festival. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Contemporary Vocal music. After getting married in July of 2006, Hilary moved to Indianapolis, where she began working at St. Richard’s school in the Aftercare program. Her involvement with St. Richard’s also includes directing the Summer Camp programs for 2007. Currently, she is completing her Master of Arts in Education degree with a content concentration in vocal music. She is thrilled for the opportunity to join with Young Voices of Indianapolis’ Preparatory choir to help instill the love of music in developing singers.
